Group/ Corporate Business Development Director

Ardena is a fast growing contract development organization for the pharmaceutical industry. We assist pharmaceutical companies, from virtual biotech to big pharma, in bringing their valued molecule(s) to the clinic and market. We provide a comprehensive and integrated portfolio of molecule-to-medicine development and manufacturing services. The Ardena Group is operating from six sites in Europe.

To support our strong growth and business internationalization, we are looking for a

Group/Corporate Business Development Director

You are member of the Ardena Corporate Team and you chair the corporate sales and marketing meeting. You report directly to the CEO.

 

Your key role

The Group/Corporate Business Development Director will secure and retain business for all Ardena Business Units through consultative, proactive sales and marketing activities. Your primary focus is on marketing and selling our enhanced value propositions: you will seek for synergies between the Ardena Business Units and position Ardena as a primary or preferred service provider. You will have direct responsibility for global prospection and assigned key accounts. Moreover, you will work closely with the expert sales functions and Business Unit Directors, to share commercial information, exchange leads and leverage opportunities. As a Group/Corporate BD you are responsible for the overall top line performance of the company. You drive revenue to achieve our ambitious growth targets.

Your key tasks and responsibilities

  • You manage and further develop the Ardena sales and marketing organisation
  • You are responsible for the overall sales budget and you monitor closely commercial KPIs
  • You establish and execute comprehensive sales and marketing plans for territories, services and key accounts
  • You prospect, generate and develop new leads/business opportunities
  • You build strong relationships with key accounts and you drive upselling our integrated services
  • You seek for synergies between Business Units to maximize cross-selling at existing accounts
  • You network and represent Ardena at local, national and international meetings, exhibitions and trade shows
  • You provide market feedback to the company leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generate product development ideas
  • You identify customer needs and communicate these effectively to further develop and improve the Ardena service positioning
  • You are responsible for the development and utilization of the Ardena CRM system

Your profile

  • You hold a Masters’ or PhD degree in science or business, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job adequately
  • You have minimum 10 years of experience in business development at C-level
  • You have a proven track record of successfully pitching for new business
  • Preferably you have knowledge/experience in Ardena’s business segments (i.e. the global Pharma/Biotech early phase innovator market). Knowledge of the drug chemical and pharmaceutical development process is a plus
  • You are a true motivator: you build and sustain cooperative working relationships. You’re able to work effectively with colleagues in a variety of settings; you are integer and you choose thoughts and actions based on values rather than personal gains
  • You align individual work priorities with the Ardena targets and you visibly demonstrate care for customers
